Unlike other less expensive models, the Thule is made of high quality, corrosion-free, lightweight aluminum. I love the removable rear section. I can easily and quickly remove it to shorten the carrier to carry my regular bikes, without the extra length sticking out in the back. However, the pivoting fork mount, the one feature that led me to buy it, does not work in my installation because it requires that the carrier be mounted outboard of my load bar mounting feet to have enough clearance between the bike and the car when loading alone. Doing that will interfere with the quick, snap-on-snap-off, load bar removal feature of my Yakima rack system which I love so much. This forced me to choose which feature to keep so I went with the Yakima's. I wish that Thule designed the pivoting fork mount to actually swing out (like the Yakima competing model) to get more clearance... Read more
