A decent light weight folding bike, April 6, 2011 By SH (NY, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dahon Jack D7 Folding Bike (Shadow) (Sports) First of all I am not a bike expert - take my word what it is worth for. I bought Dahon Jack D7 in May 2010 and have put on about 900 miles on it. I wanted to drop a few pounds and found it too daunting to jog for an hour daily. Instead, I bought this bike as a lazy man's work out machine. I rode an average of 300 miles per month for 3 months during last summer and fall on bike paths around Pelham parkway - Shore road - Orchard beach area in the Bronx. I must say that I enjoyed riding this bike. More importantly, it didn't need any maintenance during this time, except inflating the tires couple of times. It held on pretty well. For the coming season, I got it serviced (before 1 year free servicing assurance it came with ran out) already. On the plus side it's light, sturdy, and feels comfortable for a 180 lb guy. The first thing I noticed was that the bike was flat black. The second thing I noticed was how small this bike was in it's folded position.
The only thing I didn't love was the price. I wanted to take it back, however, there is a saying; "you get what you pay for." While I wouldn't pay $599 for a bike, the place where she purchased this bike offers lifetime repairs, free flat repairs and some other bonuses. In three years this bike will pay for itself.
Excellent Bicycle, May 15, 2012 By This review is from: Dahon Jack D7 Folding Bike (Shadow) (Sports) Bought this bike in 2008, fits in the trunk of my camry and wife's hatchback focus easily, tires are great, bike is extremely durable, I get it tuned up before every summer, keep the chain greased up, and never have had any issues with it. Highly reccomended, however not cheap (price has gone up, I got it for $400 in 08), but the folding capability and the pump that comes as part of the seat have come in handy MANY a time. Dahon makes a great product, the bike is full size.
