Fantastic front disk brake and no problems, December 6, 2011 By freeTim (Boston) - See all my reviews This review is from: EG Barcelona Electric Bicycle (Misc.) I bought new and am very pleased with the very quiet operation. OK, the electric power won't get me up a steep hill alone without adding a little pedaling, but is great on most hills and a big help everywhere else. The electric motor assist is great - really -- it is quiet and very noticably helpful and now I am not tired when I get to work! I have a six mile commute with some hills. It has three modes; strong assist, medium assist, and no assist but with a throttle twist adds motor (and entirely off for enjoying just as a regular bicycle without power.) With the assist the bike knows when you're pedaling and adds power (strong, or medium) for you. The torque seems consistent throughout the shifting speed range (I like that.) The regular hand brakes also stop the power assist so it is a very good safe design. The bike itself is very good for my weight (I'm over 6ft tall.) and the front disk brake work suprisingly well in the rain. The Shimano shifters work really easily. It... Read more

Upon opening the box, there were about 5-6 pieces that came out easily and needed assembly. The Bike was packaged well, with plenty of literature and tools included. This was my first "bike build", but the bike went together in under an hour. Air had to be added to the tires, a test ride, then a few minor adjustments to kickstand, brakes and the seat. So, basically the bike was road ready for me in under 2 hours and I was happy with that. I had no problems with any part of the build and even took the time to install a quick connect for my baby trailer. There were no problems there either. Something that I missed saying from the start is, this bike really looks good. There are some bells and whistles that aren't for me, that I ended up removing. They are just an added bonus that I can install on my girlfriend's bike. I'm 5'6", about 150 pounds and this bike feels great riding, even with the battery on with the seat jacked up.
